The Annunciation Cathedral Philoptochos is pleased to announce its sponsorship of this special weekend. We have invited Mother Macrina, an Orthodox Nun from the Dormition of the Mother of God Orthodox Monastery in Rives Junction, Michigan, to spend this weekend in Atlanta and to share her Lenten message with us.
Mother Macrina was born in Minneapolis, Minnesota and is the sister of Cathedral parishioner Ethel Gjerde. Serving at this monastery for over 20 years, she is a warm and devout individual. Her words and message will be enriching to all.
Listed below is the schedule for her visit:
Friday, March 2nd - Mother Macrina will offer a Lenten reflection at the conclusion of the Salutations service.
Saturday, March 3rd - Philoptochos will be hosting the following events in Carlos Hall:
9:30 am - 10:00 am - Coffee & Lenten Snacks
10:00 am - 12:00 pm - Mother Macrina will offer her first presentation “The Journey and Calling to a Monastic Life” and a brief history of the Dormition of the Mother of God Monastery. A slide-show will accompany this presentation.
12:00 pm - 1:00 pm - Lenten lunch will be served. Donation: $10.00 per person
1:00 pm - 2:00 pm - Second presentation by Mother Macrina – “The Beauty of Great Lent”
Sunday, March 4th – Mother Macrina will offer the sermon at the Divine Liturgy.
