Archbishop Athenagoras, before becoming Patriarch, organized the national Philoptochos. The Greek Ladies Philoptochos Society of Atlanta was founded as a chapter of the national Philoptochos of the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of North and South America. Mrs. Kalliope N. Poulos was the first president. As true Christians, Philoptochos strives for a spirit-filled lifestyle with true caring and compassion for the suffering. We must fight apathy and indifference and replace it with Christian love, comfort and support. We are united to bring hope where there is despair and faith where there is emptiness.
